Clear from day one

Your words.
Your privacy.

A clear explanation of what stays on your device, what we need to run Floquy, and what happens when you connect your account.

Floquy Privacy Policy · Effective October 29, 2026
At a glance: Floquy's Mac writing tools are designed to work locally. Accounts, purchasing, and optional future services use limited information to connect users and devices. Our account platform is still under development; we do not yet offer public sign-up or paid checkout.

Who we are

Floquy is a voice-writing application developed by Caleb Media Studio LLC, Florida, United States. This policy explains how we handle information when you visit our website, use the macOS app, or register for an account. We distinguish features available today from services still being developed.

Information we collect

Website: When you visit, our hosting and network providers may process your IP address, request details, approximate location derived from IP, and technical logs needed to deliver and protect the website. We currently self-host the site fonts. The website does not intentionally load third-party advertising or behavioral tracking scripts.

Accounts: When Floquy accounts are enabled, we will collect your email address, optional display name, login method and provider account identifier, email verification state, session and device information, sign-in and security events, and information needed for password resets. If you choose email/password, passwords will be processed through a one-way password hash, not stored as plaintext.

Local writing: Dictated audio, transcribed text, dictionary rules, snippets, and journal entries are designed to be processed and stored on your device. Your content is not required for account authentication. Selected journal entries can help personalize your writing only when you enable that feature.

Purchases: After checkout is launched, we expect to receive payment status, Stripe customer identifiers, invoices/plan references, and subscription history. Payment card details are handled by Stripe and are not intended to be stored in Floquy's database.

How we use information

We use the minimum information needed to provide the requested service: serving the website, registering and securing an account, connecting your devices, restoring purchases, preventing fraud or abuse, processing support requests, and meeting legal obligations. We do not sell personal data. We do not use your local dictation recordings or journal entries to train a shared AI model.

Local data and optional sync

The Mac app is built around local speech recognition and optional on-device editing. Some local writing material is stored with device-managed encryption. Network use may still occur for account authentication, software updates, downloading language models, or when a feature clearly requires it. Encrypted cross-device synchronization is a future optional feature, not a service currently advertised as available. If it launches, we will update this policy before enabling it.

Vendors and service providers

We use Vercel for hosting the public website, and may use Cloudflare for networking and abuse protection. Account verification and password-reset emails are planned to use a transactional email provider, currently designed for Resend but not yet publicly enabled. Purchases are planned to be handled by Stripe when checkout launches. These providers process information to supply their services under their own terms and privacy notices. Additional infrastructure, support, or backup providers will be disclosed as they are adopted. Self-hosted servers operated by us are our infrastructure, not a separate vendor merely because the database is self-hosted.

Retention and deletion

Local speech and writing data remain on your device unless you delete them or choose an explicitly connected service. Website and security logs are retained according to the applicable hosting and protection provider's operational settings. When account services go live, we plan to keep account identity and active session records for as long as required to provide the account, revoke expired login sessions, and retain purchase records where law requires. Authentication and billing retention schedules will be published and verified before public account registration and checkout. You will be able to request access, correction, and deletion of eligible account data, subject to legal and fraud-prevention obligations.

Security

We use encrypted connections for network requests, secure session handling, server-side payment verification, scoped database access, and local encryption where supported. No technical control guarantees absolute security. We do not claim SOC 2 certification. If a security incident affects personal information, we will follow applicable notification requirements.

Your choices and rights

You can control supported local history, journal permissions, dictionary learning, and the use of writing preferences in the app. You may request information about account records, corrections, or deletion when account management becomes available. Residents of jurisdictions with additional privacy rights may exercise them as provided by applicable law. We will provide a working privacy contact channel before public account launch.

Age and children's privacy

Floquy is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly solicit account registration from children under 13. If we learn we collected personal information from a child under 13 without a valid legal basis or required consent, we will address it according to applicable law. Some jurisdictions may set higher minimum ages or require additional consent.

International users

Website hosting, identity services and payments may involve information processing in the United States and other locations where our providers operate. If we begin serving jurisdictions that require specific international data-transfer safeguards, we will establish and disclose those safeguards before launch in those regions.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Floquy develops. Material changes to the information we collect or how we use it will be communicated through the website or app as appropriate. The effective date appears above.

Contact

Privacy questions may be directed to Caleb Media Studio LLC. The dedicated privacy contact address and legally required business contact details must be verified before public account registration; until then, this page describes our development-stage practices and planned services. We will not present a nonworking email address as an active support channel.
